The YouTube Activity Feed has been a part of YouTube ever since the crack of dawn and now it is being discontinued. But what exactly is the Activity Feed?

The Activity Feed is an essential part of many YouTube channels and is turned on by default when you create a channel. It creates a section on your channel that shows when you subscribe to a channel, when you like a video, when you add a video to a playlist and when you save a playlist.

The Activity Feed has been iterated many times over the years, getting an overhaul every time there is a new layout. This is what it currently looks like. You can see that it shows the channels you have subscribed to and the videos you have liked. These sections update every time you like or subscribe, showing the most recent video/channel first.

This is what the Activity Feed settings looks like when you edit your channel. You can choose what you want to show on your channel. You can find these settings under "Customize Channel" when you visit your own YouTube channel. If you choose to not show your activity there will only be a section for your uploads.

You can also edit these setting if you go to "Advanced Settings". Here you will see the message that it will be discontinued soon, but not the exact date/time.

To be honest I personally don't see this as a loss at all. It was probably not being used by channels with a decent following and just acted as a clutter to smaller channels. I find the feature useful to see what other people watch and what their interests are, but I can definitely live without it. I also highly doubt a replacement will be coming anytime soon.

What do you think about this discontinuation? Did you even know about the Activity Feed?

Please also leave feedback on my writing as my end goal is to improve as much as possible. Thank you so much for reading!
